First part from MeshCam

Postby youngfg » Tue Aug 19, 2014 9:07 pm

Here is my first part from MeshCAM.
It a tooling part to make a runner for a Carbon Fiber intake manifold.

I have been using BobCad/Cam, emphasis on "have been", and I would usually have to modify the part file and jump through a bunch of hoops to get a good tool path.

With MeshCAM it ran right the first time, without any modification to the part file.

You can see the full sized pictures on my webpage.

That is a neat looking part, youngfg. You will use it to lay up the CF onto, i.e. a male plug?

I am a little concerned because your "finished" picture looks like the parallel finishing passes near the apex of the part gouged below the waterline passes. Is that just an optical illusion? I know that shiny metal surfaces are sometimes misleading in photos.

Yes they are, I think its because the part moved in the vise.
I had a piece of 1"x1" bolted to the bottom of the part to hold it in the vise, I think the bolts slipped.
The back side doesn't look the same.
